Mount de Sales Academy students, parents, and faculty members enjoyed their spring break on a wonderful trip to Italy.

While there, the group of 46 visited the Vatican and attended Mass in Saint Peter's Square, celebrated by Pope Benedict XIV.

Pope Benedict took time during the Mass to especially recognize and pray for Mount de Sales and other groups in attendance.

Mount de Sales Academy captured the State Title at the 2011 GISA AAA State Literary Competition held on March 15 at Valdosta State University.

The following students placed in twelve of the fourteen literary categories - Katy Hutto (1st place in Rhetorical Essay, 3rd place in Spelling), Mariam Muraina (1st place in International Extemporaneous Speaking), William Underwood (1st place in U. S. Extemporaneous Speaking), Joe Boltri (2nd place in Argumentative Essay), Kevin Kersey (2nd place in Humorous Interpretation, member of 3rd place Duo Interpretation, member of 4th place Quartet), Claire Morgan (3rd place in Personal Essay), Jake Grisamore (member of 3rd place Duo Interpretation, member of 4th place Quartet), Katie Cooper (3rd place Piano), Betty Cantrell (4th place Girls Solo), Robert Jimison (4th place Boys Solo, member of 4th place Quartet), Ben Buster (member of 4th place Quartet).
