Macon Police Arrest Three For Burglary

Macon police arrested three people Monday, after receiving a tip that they had just committed a burglary.

That's according to a police news release.

The release says someone saw the burglars leaving 3404 O'Hara Drive South around 1 p.m. Monday with items in hand.

Police say they arrested three of the burglars on Williamson Road and one ran away.

Two of the three arrested were juveniles. They were taken to the Macon RYDC.

The third was 23-year-old Tyrone Allen Nolton. Nolton was taken to the Bibb LEC. He is charged with theft by receiving.

The stolen items were returned to the victim.

Street Party Ticket Refunds Under Way

Nearly 1,000 Cherry Blossom Festival hopefuls purchased tickets ahead of time.

But on Saturday night, tornado threats canceled the street party.

Jason Cranford says, when Saturday's storm came whipping through Central Georgia, he and his wife were already downtown.

"I didn't know which way to go, didn't know whether to run or what," says Cranford.

But the street party tickets in his hand were purchased two days before.

"I was a little disappointed, but I understood because it was weather related," he says.

Cranford is one of about 30 people so far, who stepped into the Mercer ticket office to get a ticket refund.

"I just had to show the tickets and got the money back," says Cranford.

Vincent Holmes says he's shocked that around lunchtime on Monday there was no line for the refund.

"You know, we're in a recession, so every penny counts," says Holmes.

Airline Drops Plans for Macon-Florida Flights

A Las Vegas-based airline has canceled plans for flights between Macon and the Florida Panhandle.

Scott Coffmann, manager of the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, said Vision Airlines notified him earlier this month that they wouldn't be launching Macon service.

Earlier this year, they said the twice-weekly Macon-to-Florida flights would begin March 25.

Coffmann said the airline told him that ticket sales were poorer than expected.

Vision also canceled plans for flights from Birmingham, Alabama to Florida, he said.

Airline officials could not be reached for comment.

In January, Vision said they'd fly 30-seat Dornier 328 aircraft between Macon and Northwest Florida Regional Airport, near Destin and Fort Walton area.

Macon-Bibb Fire Calls House Fire Possible Arson

Macon-Bibb Fire investigators are ruling a weekend Macon house fire as possible arson.

Sgt. Ben Gleaton with Macon-Bibb Fire says it happened at 855 and 879 College Street. He says they got the call around 8 p.m. last night. Gleaton says they're ruling out all electrical and natural causes because the home is vacant and has no electricity or gas.

He says neighbors reported seeing suspicious people in and out of the house. Gleaton says one man lived in the home next to the property but his home suffered only moderate damage.

No injuries were reported.

Gleaton says they are offering a reward for up to 10,000 dollars for information on the fire. Anyone with tips can call Georgia Arson Control at 1-800-282-5804 or Macon Regional Crime stoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.

Fountain Carwash Plans to Open Around Lunchtime

Because of the weather, Fountain Express Carwash tells us they will try to open around lunchtime.

Though the weather outside is frightful...

Well, I had every intention of my first blog being about something epic - like the Street Party this weekend with Big Boi (cancelled), or my exciting canoe trip down the Ocmulgee on Sunday (rained out), but it seems as though the weather had alternate plans. So instead I stayed indoors with my puppy and an enormous fluffy comforter watching movies and cooking when the mood happened to strike. Although I may not have seen a member of Outkast or the peace and calm of nature at its finest, I did manage to concoct a new and delicious bruschetta recipe that had even my best friend (who works at Natalia's, might I add) at a loss for words.

I haven't quite decided what direction I want to take this blog yet, so before I begin to allow my thoughts to flow freely, I would love to hear from you!
