Record Revenue for Lake Tobesofkee

Record revenue is streaming from the Lake Tobesofkee Recreation Area.

Director Doug Furney says revenue is up $50,000 this year.  He says for February, revenue was up $17,000 compared to the same month last year.

At Arrowhead Park Wednesday, Donnell Williams stood fishing for his catch of the day. He's spent his spare time on the lake for many years, but says the recent upgrades add to the appeal.

Williams, who live in Macon, says, "It's cleaner and plus if you want to go camping, you have a lot of grills out here they added to it, and the surrounding's much better."

Lake Tobesofkee not only attracts local people, but also travelers from across the country. That has the county on track to have their best year of revenue ever.

Furney says, "The revenue is up about $50,000 over last year at this time." He says, "The weather, the way it's been over the last couple of months, February and March has been really good."

Bibb County Honors Whitehead

The Bibb County Sheriff's Department remembered one of its own Wednesday, five years after he was killled during a drug raid.

On March 23, 2006, Deputy Joseph Whitehead was shot and killed while a team of law enforcement officers served a no-knock search warrant on a Macon home.

Investigators believed drugs were being sold out of the home.

The Bibb County sheriff's office today remembered Whitehead with a brief ceremony in the lobby of the county law enforcement complex.

Chief Deputy David Davis called Whitehead a dedicated officer who never shirked his duty: "He will always be missed, and he will never be forgotten. As long as anybody serves at this sheriff's office, he will never be forgotten. And as the plaque behind me attributes, as long as any person serves, these people will not be forgotten."

Davis also paid tribute to Whitehead's character.

Freedom From New Christian Laws

If you’ve spent much time around Christians, especially committed and devoted ones, you will find people who earnestly want to please God and live a holy life. Most of them know and believe the gospel (Christ died for our sins). They would all rightly admit that they are not good enough on their own to obey God’s law, which is why they need a Savior. But if you look really hard, you will find some who are living in bondage. This is not bondage to sin but bondage to a new set of rules.
The old law, otherwise known as the Mosaic law, or the Ten Commandments is well known. Anybody who’s spent more than a Easter/Christmas at a church can tell you that nobody will be justified before God by keeping the old law. They might even talk about how Paul says the point of the old law is to show us our inability to be righteous and make us feel the need of a Savior.
