Classical Music Notes: Youth Orchestra performs for Ft. Valley and the Ballet, Cherry Blossom Organ Concerts at Mulberry Methodist, Brass Best at St. Joseph's and Two Patriotic Programs at Wesleyan

Several classical concerts are slated for this week. The busy Mercer/Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra performs Saturday night, March 19, in a concert featuring music from "Around the World" at the Austin Theatre in Ft. Valley. Several members of the MMSYO join Middle Georgia Youth Ballet on Sunday to perform for a ballet double-header as well.

Movie Mania: "Hoosiers" at Sports Hall of Fame, "4 Little Girls" Remembered at Capitol Theatre, and "Pretty in Pink" at Tattnall Park

A trio of movie screenings this week span the diversity of subject matter from pop culture to a crucial moment for civil rights. We begin with basketball as the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame screens "Hoosiers" on Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. The screening is included with museum admission, $3.50 to $8. Stages are alive this weekend with live performances and broadcasts of live performances from around the globe!

The Met Opera performs "Lucia di Lammermoor" Saturday at 1 p.m. The Central Georgia Opera Guild hosts the live HD broadcast of the performance at the Douglass Theatre. A pre-show opera chat begins at 12:30 and the performance starts at 1 p.m. Tickets are $18 for students, $22 for adults and Central Georgia Opera Guild team up to present the live HD broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera's season of matinees. Chinese Doctors Visit Medical Center

Several doctors traveled more than 10,000 miles to learn more about chest pain treatment.

The Medical Center of Central Georgia welcomed four doctors and one hospital administrator from China on Friday.

They looked at ambulances and the technologies inside, and visited the Chest Pain Center and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. They'll take the information back to their country to hopefully improve their treatments.

A translator explained why they came to the medical center.

Frank Zhang says,"This hospital is very famous and we want to visit and learn."

They're here to learn more about the Heart Institute and how they take care of patients with chest pains.

Macon shrunk in the past decade, but Warner Robins grew, according to official U.S. Census statistics released Thursday.

Artistic Expressions: Exhibit Opening at Middle GA Art Association & River Roots in Dublin, Charlane Plantation Retreat for Creatives, and Ongoing Exhibits

Tonight the Middle Georgia Art Association opens two new exhibits: their annual Members Show and Youth Arts Festival.
