Macon-Bibb Crews Battle Woods Fire

Macon-Bibb firefighters are battling what looks to be a major blaze in west Bibb County.

It's in the woods on Dixon Road, off Eisenhower Parkway and Fulton Mill Road.

Witnesses are reporting hearing what sounded like explosions and the fire is sending off plumes of black smoke.

The burning woods are strewn with junk, including some abandoned cars.

Fire dispatchers say they have no further information on the fire.

On the scene, firefighters are hauling lines into the woods.

There's no word on the cause and, so far, no reported injuries.
