Washington Center, and Memorial Park Recreation Center to march in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. People prayed and chanted as they made their way downtown and met at Government Center. First year of recycling a success in Macon-Bibb

In January 2016, Macon-Bibb County introduced a new recycling program that began offering curbside pickup to all interested residents. Upon request, people could get a 65-gallon rolling recycling cart and participate in the new program. After one year of the program, more and more people are interested in being part of this green initiative and diverting trash from the landfill.

“This has been a great first year for the expanded recycling program,” says Solid Waste Director Kevin Barkley. “We’ve been amazed at how quickly this many people have asked to be a part of the program, and we couldn’t be prouder of our community. It shows that people care about recycling and want to help make a greener, more beautiful Macon-Bibb.”

Macon-Bibb public park hours shift to increase safety

From now through March 31, no one is allowed in the parks from 6 p.m. - 8 a.m., and from April 1 - October 31, parks are closed from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
