A Central Georgia student from the University of Alabama loaded up on supplies for families in need in Tuscaloosa.

Madeline Jackson, along with volunteers from the community pitched in to stock a large truck with personal hygiene items and other necessities for tornado victims in Alabama.

Jackson who's a college freshman says the conditions near her school are devastating.

She says she's thankful that people from her hometown in Macon have shown huge support.

Jackson spent the week organizing volunteers and sorting supplies for storm victims at Emmanuel Church in Macon.

Macon police say they caught a burglary suspect after chasing him on foot.

Police were called Friday morning about a burglary in progress at a house at 3893 Fairmont Avenue. A man was seen running behind the house.

Two officers ran after the man and caught him at Napier Avenue and Mercer University Drive.

Javonte Davon Farrar, 18, of Comer Terrace was taken to the Bibb LEC, charged with burglary and obstruction for fleeing.

The Macon-Bibb Fire Department was called to the scene about a gas leak. Police say the suspect tried to disconnect the gas stove inside the house. The fire department says they fixed the gas problem.

The accident that backed traffic on Interstate 75 has been cleared, according to Macon police.

Shift supervisor Karen Durham said the accident was between Mercer University Drive and Eisenhower Parkway, near exit 162.

Durham said she believes there was one injury, but was not fatal.

There is no further information on the accident.
