Bibb County March for Babies Kick

On Friday, January 14, 2011 at Central Georgia Technical College, individuals, teams and businesses throughout Bibb County will join together at the March for Babies kickoff lunch to receive supplies and share ideas for a successful March for Babies campaign.

March for Babies is the annual fundraising event to support the March of Dimes work of helping moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives.

The Bibb County March for Babies will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Ocmulgee National Monument- 1207 Emery Highway Macon, GA. Registration is at 8am and Walk starts at 9:30 a.m a news release says.

Businesses are turning out in force so that one day all babies will be born healthy, thanks to efforts like these, funded by the March of Dimes.“This event is dedicated to the most important members of our community, our children,” says 2011 Bibb County March for Babies Chair, Becky Lee-VP of Economic Development of Central Georgia Technical College.

The most urgent infant health problem in the U.S. today is premature birth. It affects more than half a million babies each year, with the number growing every day.

Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have disabilities. The March of Dimes is committed to reducing this toll by funding research to find the answers to premature birth and providing comfort and information to families who are affected.

“Participating in March for Babies is an important way to support the cause of healthy babies,” said Sherrie Jefferson, 2011 Ambassador Family for Bibb County.  “Whether you walk to celebrate a baby in your life or to honor one who did not survive, together we can work to prevent premature birth and other infant health problems and look forward to a day when every baby is born healthy and strong.”

In 2011 national March for Babies sponsors are Kmart, the March of Dimes number one corporate supporter; CIGNA, Continental Airlines, Famous Footwear, Farmers Insurance Group, FedEx, Sanofi Pasteur, Bayer, Mission Pharmacal, and First Response.

In Bibb County March for Babies is sponsored locally by Coliseum “Family Ties Birthing Center”, GEICO, Central Georgia Technical College, Midsouth Community Federal Credit Union, Robins Federal Credit Union, Central Georgia Credit Union, Infinity Network Solutions, Medical Center of Central Georgia, Armstrong, Crown Candy Corporation, and AWU Securities.
