Bibb Teachers Scout Out New Technology

About 400 Bibb County teachers and administrators got their hands on some new technology this week.

They attended the county's the Digital Learning and Student Success Expo at the Hutchings Career Center.

County leaders hope the showcase will help move Bibb classrooms to the cutting edge of technology.

Julie Christopher, Bibb's Assistant Superintendent of Technology, says each school in the district could send ten representatives to check out the new tools.

About seven vendors showed off new equipment and resources that can help students, with a focus on math and science, including Apple, McGraw Hill, ExploreLearning and Harcourt.

"Teachers need to be able to get their hands on and understand how learning needs to take place for students today that are multi-taskers that are using technology all the time. How can we keep them engaged and excited in the classroom?" said Christopher.

She says those who attended the expo will fill out surveys to give feedback on what they saw. They'll give a presentation to the school board based on that information to make decision on purchases.
