Central Georgia Wrestlers Travel To Iowa In Search Of Titles

The wrestling season is off to an early start in Central Georgia. At Mid State Wrestling Academy in Bolingbroke, a group of students from the surrounding schools come to this small, tucked-away gym to train and prepare for their biggest accomplishment yet. On October 28, seven students from FPD, Mount de Sales, Howard, Perry, and Dublin Middle School will travel to Iowa to join the rest of their Georgia teammates as a part of Team Georgia in the USA Wrestling's Preseason Nationals in Iowa.

Two-time GISA wrestling champion Cole Wheeler from FPD hopes to continue his success during his transition from GISA to GHSA. John Cook, GISA state runner-up, follows from Mount de Sales to make this a GISA powerhouse team.  Tripp Gregory from Mount de Sales, Colter DeWees and Mason Graham from Howard, Trevor Red from Perry, and William Johnson from Dublin Middle round out the seven participants from Central Georgia.

The Mid-State Wrestling Academy proudly trains and prepares these students both mentally and physically for their upcoming competition. David Matthews coaches and trains these seven students at the academy and uses his own experience as a high school wrestler and GISA wrestling coach to guide his team to victory.

Mid-State Wrestling Academy is holding a free four day wrestling camp November 8-11 from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. If you would like to find out more about these wrestlers or the academy, contact David Mathews at 478-994-2722 or visit midstatewrestling.com
