Fly South Festival Saturday, Nov. 6

The Fly South Festival returns to Macon and is set to take flight on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Amerson Water Works Park.

With a new tailgate-style format, the day-long festival will feature live music headlined by The Marshall Tucker Band and food and beverage vendors surrounding the Porter Pavilion on the Ocmulgee River.

This year’s Fly South Festival is being presented by Friends of the Ocmulgee Trail. Last year, Bragg Jam Festival organizers launched the Fly South Festival to create a fall signature live music event for Macon. Bragg Jam’s continued partnership with the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail has brought the Friends of the Ocmulgee Trail to continue this new concert tradition.

“Bragg Jam was a springboard for Fly South’s debut. Now we have Friends investing their resources to take the event to the next level at Waterworks Park,” said Bragg Jam Board President Brad Evans. “It not only benefits the mission to the Trail, but it also demonstrates the benefit of community organizations working together.” The gates to Amerson Water Works Park will open at 2 p.m.

Tailgate set ups are encouraged and tents will be allowed around the periphery of the venue. Music will begin at 4 p.m. with the A – Z Band, followed by the Gourds and headliner The Marshall Tucker Band. Although there will not be a BBQ competition like last year, local vendors will sell BBQ, hamburgers, hotdogs, beer and other beverages.

Coolers and picnics are permitted.

The second annual Fly South Festival is being presented by Friends of Ocmulgee Trail with generous assistance from Bragg Jam Festival Inc. and the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.
