Reconnecting America to Hold Public Forum at 4 p.m.

Reconnecting America will visit Macon on Wednesday, Nov. 17 to assist in the planning to bring passenger rail to Georgia.

The public is invited to attend and participate by coming to the Macon Marriott City Center in the Grand Salon at 4 p.m.  This will provide a chance for residents of Macon to learn about the current efforts to develop passenger rail and what Macon can do to be apart of this national trend.

From this visit Reconnecting America will make recommendations to the City of Macon has to what the next steps should be to make passenger rail a reality in Macon and the state of Georgia.

I am thrilled that we will have a chance to work with Reconnecting America to help Macon in our effort to prepare for passenger rail service,” said Mayor Robert Reichert.

“The movement towards passenger rail in a variety of forms is quickly becoming a national priority like the interstate highway system was half a century ago.  Knowing what our strengths are and what we need to do going forward will be key to making sure Macon is a part of this national rail network and that is what Reconnecting America is here to do."

Reconnecting America is a national nonprofit that is helping to transform promising ideas into thriving communities - where transportation choices make it easy to get from place to place, where businesses flourish, and where people from all walks of life can afford to live, work and visit.
