Students Advance to State for National History Day

Students from Howard High School and Rutland Middle School advanced to state competition for National History Day.

From Howard High, Advanced Placement (AP) World History students competed in the regional National History Day competition at Fort Valley State University in late February and placed in each category they entered. The following students will advance to the state competition at Mercer University in April:

Jay Brunner and Cary Lynne Thigepen - 1st place group exhibit

Marquis Chester, Sydney Vaughn, and Ellie Cape - 3rd place group exhibit

Lindie Crosby - 2nd place individual exhibit

Alexander Ayerbe - 3rd place individual exhibit

Zach Carlson, Cameron Pennington, Austin Khoury, and Evan Schieber - 1st place group website design

Ian Roughen - 2nd place individual website design

Annalisa Baidoo - 3rd place individual website design

Chase McCard - 3rd place historical paper

At Rutland Middle School, several students also placed in the regional National History Day competition. Those advancing to state competition next month include:
