Junior League of Macon Bookin’ It 5K Fun Run & Band Party | Arts & Culture

MACON, GA.--The Junior League of Macon will host the first annual Bookin’ It 5K Run and Band Party on Saturday February 4, 2012.  

The run will begin at 8am at the Matthews Athletic Center at Wesleyan College, and the day will end with a dance party at 8pm at the Blacksmith Shop with the Finesse Band.
The race will begin and end at Wesleyan College taking runner and walkers through a nearby neighborhood.  

Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K.  Registration is required for all participants, and pre-registration is strongly encouraged.  

The pre-registration fee is $20 per person, and must be postmarked by January 25th.  Race day registration is $25 per person.  

There is also a 1-mile run option with a pre-registration fee of $12 per person by January 25th or $15 per person on race day.  Online registration is available until 12pm on Friday February 3rd at www.jlmacon.org or registration and payments may be mailed to The Junior League of Macon, Inc., attn. Melissa Bush, 2055 Vineville Ave., Macon, GA 31204.  Make checks payable to The Junior League of Macon, Inc.  T-Shirts are guaranteed to preregistered runners, and race day registrants will receive t-shirts on race day while supplies last.

After the run, “Book it” on over to the Blacksmith Shop at 8 pm for a Mardi Gras themed party.  Cajun food, music by the Finesse Band, and what Mardi Gras party would be complete without drinking a few Hurricanes!  Tickets to the party are $20 per person, and can be purchase online at www.jlmacon.org.

The Bookin’ It 5K Run will be held rain or shine.  In case of severe inclement weather requiring cancellation, registration fees will be considered a donation to support The Junior League of Macon, Inc.’s focus area of improving literacy and school readiness in the Middle Georgia community.
