Middle Georgia Christmas Parade Set for Sunday | Arts & Culture
The Middle Georgia Christmas parade, on Sunday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m., will feature marching bands, floats and of course, the big man in red, himself. The parade route starts at Martin Luther King Blvd. and Cherry Street, then First St, First to Mulberry St then Mulberry St. back to MLK Blvd.
Additional events will take place throughout the month including a screening of The Polar Express on December 20th.
Christmas in Downtown is underway. Last Thursday the holidays got underway with the Annual Tree Lighting at the Macon City Auditorium. The Bibb County Board of Education and area third graders entertained with Christmas Carols and Mayor Robert Reichert and Commissioner Elmo Richardson, with the help of the crowd, lit the tree. Events continue this week with a Joey Stuckey Holiday Concert at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday, Dec. 6th at 7:30 pm. First Friday activities will include the Children's Tree Lighting Ceremony at The Medical Center of Central Georgia at 6:30 p.m. Christmas in Mercer Village will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 and will include a special showing of Elf.
