Hartley Elementary Students Study Black Inventors for Black History Month
Black History Month culminated with a week-long celebration of black inventors February 25 through March 1 at Hartley Elementary School. Students had the opportunity to visit the school’s library and tour displays of African-American inventors. A few African-American inventions on display included the pencil sharpener, comb, ironing board, and traffic signal.
The display served as more than a visual for students. Many turned the display into an opportunity for class projects. On the final day students dressed in the attire appropriate for the profession they want when they are older.
