Title (Max 100 Characters)
Central High School is inviting its students' parents into classrooms for Parent Learning Sessions on Thursday, March 14. The sessions will be held from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the school, which is located at 2155 Napier Avenue in Macon.
At the Parent Learning Sessions, parents will have the opportunity to sit in on a 30-minute session with a teacher to learn about course curriculum and content, engage in real and current class activities, and hear general instructional concerns that students are experiencing. Parents will have an opportunity to get feedback from teachers in a face-to-face setting and attend a session with counselors and/or administrators to discuss school policy, graduation requirements, attendance, discipline practices, general student concerns, and other opportunities to be informed or involved.
Parents will attend classes with students to get a more personal classroom experience and witness the level of engagement, practice, and content skills needed to be successful at the high school level.
"In these sessions parents will be actively engaged and have an opportunity to ask questions," said Central High Instructional Coach Christopher Holmes. "The remaining time will be actually spent in the classroom with their child."
To register for Central's Parent Learning Sessions, parents should contact the school at (478) 779-2354 and ask for Daphne Brown. Parents may also request a registration form by sending an e-mail to dabrown.central@bibb.k12.ga.us or cholmes.central@bibb.k12.ga.us. Registration forms are also available at http://www.bibb.k12.ga.us/Domain/110.
