Northeast High Junior Wins Georgetown Club of Georgia Writing Competition

Auriel Wright, a junior at Northeast High School, was awarded first prize in the Georgetown Club of Georgia's 11th annual writing competition for high school juniors. The Georgetown Club of Georgia is an alumni association for Georgetown University graduates who now reside in Georgia.

This year's essay topic encouraged students to envision themselves as the Secretary General of the United Nations and to discuss the most important issues facing the community of nations today.

Essays are judged on creativity, understanding of world issues, clarity of thought and grammar. First prize was a $1,500 scholarship, which Auriel will be able to use for school supplies.
