Student leadership cohort announced, attends first session

Macon-Bibb County has announced its second cohort of leaders for the statewide Georgia Civic Awareness Program for Students (GCAPS). This year’s class of 31 student leaders (a full list that is available by clicking here) came from a pool of more than 60 applicants, and they were introduced at a special event at the Cox Capitol Theatre in Downtown Macon on September 1.

On September 8, the students had their first session to learn about the operation of government. For this session, the group focused on National Preparedness Month by visiting the Emergency Management Agency and learning how they can help prepare their family and friends to be ready to respond and recover from a disaster.
