Math Team Competition Winners Announced

Each year, District students compete as individuals and as teams in the District’s Math Team Competitions. The Elementary Math Team Competition was held Friday, February 15, at Union Elementary School, and the Middle School Math Team Competition was held Wednesday, March 6, at Vineville Academy of the Arts.

In the elementary competition, each student takes an individual assessment of 40 multiple-choice questions. Then the team competes in a 10-question problem solving assessment. The scores are combined for the winning team. Individual winners are based solely on their score on the Math Competition test.

The middle school competition follows the same process but also includes a speed round competition. Each school selects two students to compete in the speed round. Questions are shown on a screen and the first person to "buzz" in with the correct answer gets a point. The winner is the student who answers the most questions correctly and quickly.
