Electric bus considered for Second Street Corridor

In 2011, Macon began a planning for the redevelopment and revitalization of the Second Street Corridor as a “multi-modal spine” from East Macon and I-16, through Downtown, past Mercer University, and to I-75. It would connect residential areas, businesses, universities, medical facilities, and government facilities to each other while linking two regionally significant facilities, I-16 and I-75.

Cinderella's Wish List Dress Sale

The Bibb County School District's Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Department will host its third annual Cinderella’s Wish List Dress and Accessories Sale this month.

The Cinderella's Wish List Dress and Accessories Sale features new or gently used prom dresses and accessories for sale at a discounted cost. The sale begins Thursday and Friday, March 5-6, from 4-7 p.m. and continues Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The event will be held at the Welcome Center Annex next to Hutchings College and Career Academy, at 2007-F Riverside Drive in Macon. All high school girls are invited to attend.

The CTAE Department is hosting the event to raise funds for the 2015 CTAE Student of the Year Scholarship fund.

Currently, the CTAE Department presents a scholarship to the Bibb County CTAE Student of the Year, as well as to the first- and second-place runners-up.

Robins Federal Credit Union Sponsors Muscular Dystrophy Association

Warner Robins, GA — Robins Federal Credit Union recently sponsored Muscular Dystrophy Association with a $1,000 contribution to the Muscle Walk. This event helps to raise awareness about muscle diseases in the hopes to find treatments and cures to win the fight against it.

Macon-Bibb budget receives national award

In January, Macon-Bibb County was notified that the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) had selected it to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2015 budget. In order to receive the award, Macon-Bibb’s budget document had to serve as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device, and then it had to be rated as proficient in each of those areas.
