Doughboys Pizza will celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, February 27 at 3:00 p.m. The new restaurant has been open since mid-December and has been steadily growing since then.

Owner, Roger Ruiz, has worked in the restaurant industry before and this is his first foray into ownership. “I worked for another pizza restaurant for a long time but the opportunity became available to me to own my own business and I wanted to test my business skills,” says Ruiz.

Ownership is not without challenges. “I’m learning to juggle administrative tasks with the part of the business that I love which is serving my customers,” says Ruiz, “I enjoy focusing on fresh ingredients and a high quality product.”

Doughboys Pizza offers pizza by the slice and whole pies. Ruiz says, “The five dollar lunch special is a big hit with Downtown employees. I do my best to get people in and out in twenty minutes so they can stick to a thirty minute lunch break and still enjoy dining out.” In addition to the lunch and dinner crowd, Ruiz is also open late night. “There was a clear void in dining options for folks who are out later in the evening. We have had a great response being open late to serve these customers.”

“We’ve got more improvements on the horizon. I am considering longer hours in the coming weeks. And I am looking forward to providing a larger beer selection,” says Ruiz.

Hours for Doughboys Pizza are Monday – Thursday 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 pm, Friday 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m. and Saturday 3:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.
