Robins Federal Credit Union Raises over $8,000 for Cancer Research

Macon, GA — Robins Federal Credit Union recently held fundraisers in branches across the mid-state in order to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Robins Federal Credit Union branches in Bibb County created teams, raised funds, and participated in their county’s Relay for Life events. Over 40 employees participated in Bibb County event which was held at the Al Sihah Shrine Park in Macon where team Robins Federal was able to present at check for $8,171.84.

Robins Federal branches hosted breakfasts, sold candy bars and held other fundraisers in the months leading up to the Relay for Life events in each county. Funds raised will be used to fight cancer through research, education, patient services, advocacy and rehabilitation. Relay for Life is a community event to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones, and fight back against this disease.

In a quiet announcement on their Facebook page, Warner Robins-based Lazy Dog Growler revealed they are opening a new location in downtown Macon.

They will be opening in September on the first floor of the Armory Ballroom on the corner of First St. and Poplar St.

The beer growler shop comes to Macon just after celebrating its one-year anniversary in Warner Robins.

Warner Robins, GA — Each quarter, Robins Federal Credit Union selects three employees that represent the best of the best in three categories – Manager, Support Department Staff and Branch Staff. Employees are selected by management based on their outstanding work performance and written recommendations from their peers. The winners chosen for the first quarter of 2014 are as follows:

 

Clay Nodes, Facilities Department – Nodes is the manager of Robins Federal’s Facilities department. He has been employed by Robins Federal Credit Union for six years. He enjoys hunting, fishing and camping.

Taylor Babbs, a graduating senior at Westside High School, was chosen as Work-Based Learning (WBL) Student of the Year for Region 5. Each candidate was judged based on their WBL involvement, letters of recommendation, résumé and their response to the following questions: How has your WBL experience prepared or shaped your future career goals? Where do you see yourself in 5 years, and then 10 years? What coursework has prepared you for work and your future career?

Taylor, an employee at Chick-fil-A, has been an exceptional leader throughout her entire high school career. In addition to being President of her DECA chapter, Taylor was also Captain of the Westside High School Cheerleading Squad, an Officer in the Westside High School Air Force JROTC Program, as well as being voted Best All-Around by her fellow classmates.
