Some say the new Mercer football program is making big impacts both on the field and throughout Macon.

The team has drawn in crowds from across the country, and many have made Macon their one-stop-shop to get all their game day essentials.

At Academy Sports and Outdoors, store director Matthew Banks says fans snatched up every orange and black item in his store before the first game. He says he's had to boost his supply just to keep Mercer gear on the shelves.

"It's a staple now," says Banks. "We're going to have Mercer orange and black just like Georgia red and black, and white and gold for Georgia Tech."
