A Halluva Auction's website says the event is to support vital downtown institutions: The Cherry Blossom Festival, The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and NewTown Macon.

The event is scheduled for June 19 at the Terminal Station in Downtown Macon.

Big Screen Movie Night: Pretty in Pink

Tonight in Tattnall Square Park, the movie Pretty in Pink will be shown on a big screen.

The College Hill Corridor is announcing on its Facebook page that  the person with the pinkest outfit tonight will win TWO TICKETS to the Corey Crowder and Ocha La Rocha concert this Saturday.

Show starts at 8 p.m.

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and friends! All are welcome!

Mercer Village Hosts St. Patty's Day Party

At the St. Patrick's Day party in Mercer Village, Jonathan Wisdom and Caleb Thornley performed an acoustic set.

The video clip shows the guys covering "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls. Wisdom is a member of Macon-based band theKey and Thornley is a Mercer University freshman.

During the event, Barnes & Noble at Mercer University was officially welcomed to the Corridor with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening.

 

Sen. Brown and Rep. Epps Hold Public Hearings

Sen. Robert Brown (D-Macon) and Rep. Bubber Epps (D-Dry Branch) together will hold two public hearings on Saturday, March 6.

At the first, to be held at the Twiggs County Courthouse, Sen. Brown and Rep. Epps will seek input on House Bill 274 and Senate Bill 110 that could affect a Twiggs County landfill, and will also seek input on proposed salary increases for the Twiggs County Board of Education.

The second public hearing will be held at the Bibb Substation on Jeffersonville Road, also to discuss House Bill 274 and Senate Bill 110. House Bill 274, if passed, would re-introduce yard trimmings and vegetative matter to landfills in Georgia.

March: National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

A proclamation by Mayor Robert Reichert on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at City Hall will commence observance of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in Macon and the central Georgia community.

During this month, The Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) will educate the community, including a keynote lecture from a foremost figure in national surgery, Dr. John L. Cameron.

That's according to a MCCG news release.

Downtown Opens Three New Businesses

Three new businesses will open in Downtown Macon on Friday, March 4.

At 10 a.m., Saturna & Company, PC, CPA will open at 505 Second St. Suite 101.

At 4 p.m., Three Brothers Cheesecake and Sweets will open at 592 Cherry St.

At 7:30 p.m. Element Night Club will open at 425 Cherry St.
