Macon Unemployment Rates

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) reported today that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in the metro Macon area decreased to 9.8 percent in October, down three-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 10.1 percent September.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed workers in the area decreased to 10,865, down 262 from 11,127.

The jobless rate in the metro Macon area in October 2009 was also 9.8 percent.

The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged at 9.9 percent from September to October. The preliminary September rate of 10 percent reported last month has been revised downward by one-tenth of a percentage point. The rate was 10.2 percent in October 2009 according to the GDOL.

This is the 37th consecutive month Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate, which is currently 9.6 percent.

Downtown to Open Vintage Store with Laundry Services

Downtown Macon has announced the grand opening of Caulfield’s, a vintage store also offering laundry services. 

The ribbon cutting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. next to Molly’s Café at 414 Cherry St.
