On Thursday, October 10, Central High School's FBLA took 30 students to the Fall Motivational Rally in Perry. Once there, the students were able to listen a motivational speaker on not judging a book by its cover. He was a very intrinsic speaker who delivered his message in such a way that the students were captivated by his words. They then had a chance to do open testing, which gives the students an idea of what competitions are like. After the official business was taken care of, they rode rides and ate fair foods. The chapter could not have done it without Sgt. Glenn Towles, Wylene Dickey, Shawana Thomas and Nikia Williams, who took time out of their Fall Break schedules to assist in chaperoning the students.
Howard High School FBLA
Howard High School's FBLA took 55 students to the Fall Motivational Rally. Students attended the Motivational Session with guest speaker Kevin Wanzer, who spoke about how being different isn't bad or something to be scared of. He tied in the leadership attributes of FBLA, explaining that leaders can make choices and inspire individuals to accept our differences. Kuttan Lal, the Howard High FBLA President, was formally inducted as FBLA President, reciting the FBLA President's pledge. Eight Howard students participated in Open Testing, which allowed them to get an idea of what their competitive events will be like for Region and State. Those students were: Marquis Chester (Region 5 Vice President), Zach Carlson (Region 5 Secretary), Kuttan Lal (President), Cary Lynne Thigpen (Vice President), Sandra Amadi (Secretary), Erin Rodenroth (Reporter), Lindie Crosby, and Pennuel Lockett. Students spent the day riding fair attractions, meeting and networking with students from other school districts, and had a great time.
