"The Dark Knight Rises," "Full Metal Jacket" and "Birdy"- those are just some of the films actor, director and writer Matthew Modine has been in. He hosted a film screening Saturday night at the Macon Film Festival. He said being in Macon is like coming home. "Although I'm not from Macon, everyone is so kind and friendly," said Modine. The star also spoke at the Art Matters Film Symposium. He said art is a great way to educate and open peoples' eyes. "To different ways of believing and understanding and hopefully helping us to realize how important it is to work together as a community," he said. People lined the streets to watch his movie "Birdy." "It's very relevant today because it's about post-traumatic stress and what happens to young men and women who suffer through the horrors of war," he said. President of the Macon Film Festival Terrell Sandefur hopes Modine will film a movie here one day. "I just know there is a project and that Macon would be a location that he would consider. He actually was going around with some people today looking at locations, potential locations. But the film commission will be talking to him tomorrow about it," said Sandefur. The film festival continues Sunday, Sandefur said Modine will host a special screening that night. For more information you can visit http://www.maconfilmfestival.com/
