Williams Elementary Students Place in Essay Competition
Members of the Central Georgia Federation of Trades and Labor Council AFL-CIO sponsored an essay contest and banquet in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The banquet was held on Sunday, January 20, at the Rosewood Ballroom in Macon. All fifth-graders at Williams Elementary School participated in the essay contest, writing on the theme of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the Labor Movement.
Three students from Williams were selected as finalists and invited to the banquet for recognition. Winners were: Dymond Barnes, first place and $500, Brandon Patrick, second place and $200; and Jhliyah Dennard, third place $100.
