Alexander II Dads Celebrate Valentine's Day with Students | Community Spirit
On Thursday, February 14, for Valentine's Day, Alexander II Magnet School dads and grandfathers participated in the school's first "Dads on the Curb" event. More than 20 men arrived at the school early in the morning and provided safety patrol duty from the curb. All students had their car door opened by a smiling dad and received a "Good Morning" and "Have a Nice Day" from a dad.
Alexander II faculty and staff say this will be a monthly event for dads in an effort to get more men involved and to build the male presence for students at the school. Staff members are also working with the school's PTA on future events to get dads involved with fifth and fourth grade boys through chat sessions and mentoring.
