Bibb Spelling Bee Winners to Compete in District Competition

31 students came together at Appling Middle School as the top spellers from 24 elementary and seven middle schools to compete for the Bibb County Spelling Bee Champion last month.

Howard Middle School's seventh grade student Jeremy Watts won. Second place winner is Taylor Elementary fifth grade student Junus Searcy and third place is fifth grade student Takirra Roberts from Bruce Elementary.

The winning word was "succotash."

Watts and Searcy will compete in the District Six Spelling Bee at Fort Valley State University on February 26.

The District Competition winner will then go on to compete in the State Spelling Bee Competition at Georgia State University on March 18.
