Kids Yule Love: Day 4 of 13 Days of Giving

Kids Yule Love is a non-profit organization founded in 1986 and its mission is to provide Christmas presents and a message of hope to the less fortunate children in the Middle Georgia area.

Kids Yule Love partners with businesses in the Middle Georgia area who either want to become a sponsor or a  Kids Yule Love drop point.  Kids Yule Love also serves people throughout the year with Baskets of Joy at Easter, Kids School Tools during the school year & the Smoke Detector Program. 

You can help by donating Christmas toys, volunteer or give donations for other programs throughout the year.

Bolingbroke Christmas Parade

Bolingbroke Christmas Parade

The Bolingbroke Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m.

The parade will take place at Rivoli Rd.

Pre-parade activities  such as a cake walk and concessions will begin at 2 p.m.

The events will take place in front of the fire station and post office.

Children will be able to visit with Santa in his workshop after the parade.

The Mayor's Christmas Motorcade to Benefit Hospital in Milledgeville

Macon Mayor Robert Reichert will address the public during the Mayor's Christmas Motorcade on Dec. 7 at 9 a.m.

The city of Macon will gather on the steps of Macon City Hall at 9 a.m. Mayor Robert Reichert will offer a few words regarding the importance of giving during the holiday season and at 10:30 a.m., the Mayor’s Motorcade will depart for Milledgeville.

The event will take place in front of Macon City Hall and will benefit the Central State Hospital in Milledgeville.

Citizens who want to donate to items to the Central State Hospital by delivering them to the Emergency Management Agency or to the Fire Prevention Center in Macon.

Items Needed:

New Clothing (adults):

Pajamas/night gowns, socks, underwear, bedroom slippers, tennis shoes, hats, sweat shirts and pants

Personal Care Items:

Toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs and hair brushes, cosmetics, shaving lotions, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion

Funeral Arrangements Announced for Rep. Anthony Edward "Tony" Sellier

There will be two visitations held on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at the Byron Municipal Complex; the first beginning at 11a.m. until 2 p.m. and the second from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Rosary service immediately following at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at St. Juliana’s Catholic Church in Ft. Valley, Georgia at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Rooks Funeral Home in Byron is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made either to the American Cancer Society or a favored charity.

13 Days of Giving: Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia serves children in Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Greene, Hancock, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Laurens, Monroe, Peach, Twiggs, Washington, and Wilkinson Counties.  

They have been providing help for community kids since 1953.   Children who have mentors go to school more often, get higher grades, get along with others better, and have higher levels of self esteem.

To help with this project you can volunteer to be a mentor, or donate holiday items for families.

Friday Fest to Have New Round Robin Game

Friday Fest patrons have a new game to play this Friday as part of Friday Fest, presented by Robins Federal Credit Union.   

Round Robin: The Game will start at 5 p.m. when participants can pick up their game cards at The Red Room. 

Then they have to visit participating Friday Fest businesses getting signatures from five places before bringing their card back to The Red Room by 9 p.m. 

Completed cards will be entered into a drawing for a “Museums of Macon” prize pack which includes free admission tickets to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, Georgia Children’s Museum, Tubman Museum, Museum of Arts and Sciences, Hay House, Cannonball House, and Sidney Lanier Cottage.

The winner will be drawn by the band Grafted by Grace who will be performing live at The Red Room from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
