Former Macon Officer Pleads Guilty to Tractor Theft
Crime

A former Macon police officer accused of stealing a tractor pleaded guilty Monday.

Jon Wantz and another officer, Troy Guidry, were arrested last January. They were accused of stealing a tractor from the Mr. Rooter plumbing business on Roff Avenue in Macon.

Police said the tractor's GPS led investigators to Guidry's home in Monroe county. The tractor was worth almost $25,000.

District Attorney David Cooke says Wantz pleaded guilty and is expected to be sentenced to four years in prison and six on probation.

He's agreed to testify against Guidry, who's still awaiting trial.

Both men resigned from the police force after being charged.
