Macon Arson Investigation: Dead Woman Was Shot

Macon police say the woman found dead in a burned Macon home died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says an autopsy showed 41-year-old Yvonne Jackson was shot in the head before the fire.

Fire investigators found Jackson's body in an upstairs bedroom at 1147 Petterson St. Friday.  That's off Napier Avenue and east of Pio Nono Avenue.

Fire Chief Riggins said the house fire is an arson case.

In a news release, Police Chief Mike Burns said, "We have treated this case as a homicide from the beginning. Our investigation to identify and arrest Yvonne Jackson's killer continues."

Police and fire investigators ask anyone with information on the case to call police, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
