Macon Man Accused of Baseball Bat Beating

Macon police arrested a man after witnesses say he beat another man with a metal baseball bat.

Macon police spokeswoman, Jami Gaudet, says they arrested 32-year-old Joseph Moore around 4:30 Sunday morning.

In a news release, Gaudet says it happened on Hillcrest Avenue at Hillyer Avenue.

Gaudet says when officers arrived at the scene they found the victim "lying face down in the street, visibly bleeding from the head." The release says police saw Moore near his vehicle with a metal bat in his front seat.

Moore told the officers that he and the victim began to fight while he was driving in his car. He says when he stopped, the fighting moved to the street.

According to the release, witnesses told police during the fight Moore kicked the victim in the chest and began hitting him in the head and body repeatedly with the bat.

The victim was taken to the Medical Center for treatment. Moore was arrested and take to the Bibb County Jail.
