Macon Police Step Up Patrol for Gang Anniversary
Crime, News

Exactly one year ago, a string of four drive-by shootings left eight men wounded.

Macon Police Chief Mike Burns said the shootings happened at parties thrown by Crip gang members on September 12th.

Wednesday night, a large group of people filled up a block of Pansy Avenue in Macon.

Jami Gaudet with the Macon Police Department said police were aware of the party and took extra safety measures.

She would not go into further detail about how they prepared for the evening, but a mobile police command center was set up a few blocks away from the gathering along with a member of the Georgia State Patrol.
