Man Accused of Firing Shots in Downtown Macon

A man has been arrested after gunshots were reported near Cherry Street Lane in downtown Macon late Wednesday night.

According to a news release, police heard shots near the parking deck behind the Dempsey Hotel on Cherry Street at Third Street.

Backup arrived, and after realizing the gunfire was coming from 518 Mulberry St., they surrounded the building, partially cleared it and found a suspect inside.

Thirty-six-year-old Forest Perrin was apprehended on the scene and in the process of arresting him, a handgun fell out of his pocket.

He has been charged with burglary, reckless conduct misdemeanor, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting an officer.

Perrin was released on bond for $11,050.
