Macon Store Searched in WIC-Fraud Case | Crime
Macon Police Financial Crimes and SWAT units along with the USDA searched Pink & Blue Variety Store as part of a search warrant for a WIC fraud investigation.
According to a Macon Police Department news release, the 3707 Houston Ave. business is being investigated for using WIC vouchers for financial gain.
WIC is the federal program that provides nutritional help for pregnant women and mothers of young children. Needy families receive vouchers that help pay for healthy foods.
Corey Demetrius Mitchell of Atlanta was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was released on bond.
Ronnie Wyvis Zachary of Warner Robins was also arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was released on bond as well.
A 40-caliber glock, marijuana, electronic storage devices and records were seized during the search.
