GED Program Closes to Public after Alleged Sexual Assault | Crime
After an alleged sexual assault following one of its GED classes, the Macon Rescue Mission says the program will be closed to the public.
On Monday, a 22-year-old woman told police she was grabbed by the 19-year-old suspect, Javorian Quintarius Sims, who demanded she perform a sexual act on him.
Jeff Nicklaus, the Macon Rescue Mission's executive director told 13WMAZ that the victim is a resident at the GED Dove Center and that Sims was a community member attending the GED classes.
The Rescue Mission will suspend GED classes for at least a week, Nicklaus says. When the classes resume, they will not be offered to the outside community.
"It will just be brought in for the residents of the Macon Rescue Mission, that way we will avert any possibility of this happening from an outsider or visitor coming in."
