No Persons of Interest in Macon Church Arson

Macon-Bibb's fire chief says so far they have no persons of interest in an arson fire that gutted a church.

At a news conference this morning, Chief Marvin Riggins discussed the fire at the Reaching Souls Cathedral of Praise on Bethesda Avenue.
Riggins says the fire was set in the church's sanctuary but there were multiple points of origin.
He said there was an open door and no signs of a break-in.
Accelerant-sniffing dogs found some kind of petroleum product that was used to set the fire, Riggins said. "We have a few leads that we're working on at this time. We don't have a people of interest per say from a suspect nature, but we are following all the leads that come to us and talking to all of the people that were in and around the church." explains Riggins.
Chief Riggins asks anyone that knows of any activity going on at or around the church after their service sunday to please contact  investigators at 478-751-9180.

Anyone with information on the fire can also call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.
