Macon Woman Charged With Grandmother's Murder

A Macon woman is now charged with killling her grandmother last week during a dispute over a shaken baby.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones is waiting for the autopsy results into the death of 62-year old Shirley Green.

Jones told 13WMAZ that Green was taken to a hospital last Wednesday and placed on a life support system and died Friday afternoon around 1 p.m.

A Macon police news release last Wednesday said that Green was intervening in a domestic dispute at her home on the 2900 block of Tuxedo Rd., when she was knocked unconscious by 22-year-old Kierra Lashon Thomas.

According to the release, Thomas kicked the victim in the stomach and hit her in the head, knocking her unconscious.

Police say Thomas was shaking her 2 year-old daughter when Green intervened.

Thomas is now charged with Felony Murder, Child Cruelty and two counts of Aggravated Assault, according to the Bibb County jail website.

Jones said Green was the grandmother of Kierra Thomas.
