Arrest Warrant: Macon Murder Victim Was Pregnant | Crime
Murder victim Chassity Lester was pregnant with another man's child when Brandon Davis killed her this week, an arrest warrant says.
The warrant, signed by a magistrate judge Wednesday, says Davis was "extremely jealous" of Lester, who was reportedly cheating on him.
The pair have a 3-year-boy together.
The warrant also details why investigators focused on Davis:
He was the last person seen with Lester.
Her body was found around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
But Davis reportedly told several people before that time that Lester was found dead, stabbed and raped.
At that time, the warrant says, nobody but the killer or an accomplice would have known about the death.
Those people said Davis claimed that he'd been notified by the victim's family.
But they were not notified until after 4 p.m. Tuesday, the warrant says.
Davis also made calls from Lester's cell phone after her body was found, the warrant says.
Davis appeared before a magistrate judge Barbara Harris at the Bibb County jail Thursday. She told him that she could not set bond on the murder charge.
When she asked Davis if he understood the charge against him, he shook his head. Harris then set an April 18 commitment hearing where prosecutors would have to explain the charge against him.
He is charged with felony murder in Lester's death. Lester's sister told 13WMAZ that two have a child together.
Lester's sister said the crime was "an act of jealousy, but I never thought this would happen."
Poice believe Lester was killed at a house on the 3000 block of Flamingo Drive in South Macon and later dumped in a wooded area off of Fairgrounds Road in North Houston County.
Davis' body was examined and the GBI Crime Lab discovered that the
victim died of "multiple sharp and blunt force trauma," according to a
Houston County Sheriff's Office news release.
She was last seen alive Monday afternoon.
Davis turned himself in to the Houston County Sheriff's Office Wednesday morning.
