Man charged with north Macon kidnapping, robbery

A 19-year-old man is now charged with kidnapping a man from his north Macon home and robbing him.

John Edgar with the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force says they arrested Brandon Howard Wednesday at the American Value Lodge on Eisenhower Parkway, in Macon.

Edgar says Howard was the man seen in a surveillance camera photo taken at the Sun Trust Bank on Zebulon Road Monday night, Nov. 18.

Thieves steal hunting stands from wounded vets

The Americans Helping Wounded Veterans Hunting Club of Lizella is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of thieves who stole five deer stands.

The stands, valued at about $2,400 total, were custom-made to allow wounded veterans to climb and hunt.

Veteran Bob Paschal, a member of the group, told 13WMAZ Thursday morning that the stands were taken Friday from the group's Columbus Road property. He said the area is fenced in, padlocked and has barbed wire. Paschal said he believes it took more than one person to steal the stands because of their weight.

Four Accused of Selling Cocaine in Macon

Macon police serving a search warrant at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday arrested four men charging them all with possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Police noticed the men standing outside of the location at 1851 Coleman Ave. when the department's K-9 alerted officers to 64 rocks of crack cocaine outside and drug paraphernalia inside, according to a Macon police news release.

Officer also found stolen debit and credit cards inside.

The men were also charged with identity theft and fraud.

Arrested were:

Bobby Jordan Jr., 33; Chadwick Jordan, 48; Leroy Thomas Jr., 49 and Raymond Bell  III, 28.

They men were booked into the Bibb County jail. Jordan has since been released.

Teens in Stolen Car Arrested After Fleeing From Authorities

Two teens were arrested by Bibb County sheriff's deputies Thursday morning after attempting to flee from authorities in a stolen car.

A resident in the Timber Ridge subdivision in south Bibb County spotted the teens after 4 a.m. going through his neighbors car, according to a sheriff's office news release.

The resident went outside, called out to the suspects and they ran off and entered a light blue Ford Edge that was parked on the street.

Deputies arrived within minutes and spotted the car. The suspects made a left turn on Hartley Bridge Road and entered a curve near Bonanza Drive where they lost control and flipped over into a ditch, the news release stated.

The driver, Zashon Eugene Morant, 17, climbed out of the car and ran. He was later caught hiding in nearby woods. The 15-year-old passenger tried to run after getting out of the car, but deputies captured him before he could get away, the news release stated.

Judge Orders Evaluation of Springdale Suspect

Bibb County Judge Howard Simms has ordered an evaluation of a man accused of attempting to kidnap a child last week at Springdale Elementary.

Maduabuchi Christian Ogo, who is believed to be about 68 years old, appeared before the judge Tuesday afternoon.

13WMAZ's Tom George @TheTomGeorge reports that while Bibb County District Attorney David Cooke opposed bond for the man, Simms said he wants the suspect evaluated before he decides anything.

Cooke described Ogo's actions at the school as "bizarre" and his attorney describes his client's condition as "frail" and said the incident at the school stems from "confusion." 

Ogo has been in Bibb County jail since the Thursday incident without bond.

Person Injured after Macon Shooting

One person is injured after gun shots were fired at a convenient store in Macon Saturday night.

According to the Macon Police Department, the victim was injured by glass from a bullet when shots were fired into the M&M Food Mart on Montpelier Avenue.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and released with non life-threatening injuries.
