Man Robs Family Dollar at Gunpoint

Police are searching for a man after he held up a Family Dollar cashier.

Friday evening, a suspect pointed a black handgun at the Houston Avenue store employees while demanding cash, according to a release.

He was wearing a hooded short-sleeved back shirt with a white short-sleeved shirt underneath, white coverings on his forearms, black cargo pants and white shoes that had a gray velcro strap. His face was masked.

Men Robbed While Pumping Gas in Macon

Two men were robbed when they went to pump gas.

Police were told two men arrived at Marathon Gas Station on Vineville Sunday night to pump gas and they were robbed by two other men, according to a release. 

They say it happened around 10 p.m.

One of two suspects, Leonard Jenkins, was captured and arrested.

This makes his third arrest in the last seven months.

The investigation continues in this case.

X-Mart in East Macon Robbed...Again

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery at the X-Mart, located on Emory Highway, that happened around 10:15 last night.

Two suspects entered the store and demanded money from the cashier and from a customer, who was at the register at the time.

One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

Once the suspects received some cash, they left the store.

No one was injured during this incident. This is the 2nd armed robbery in as many weeks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Man Stabbed in Downtown Macon

Police arrested a man for aggravated assault early Friday morning.

Daryl Denson, 22, was arrested after police responded to "a person cut" around 1:16 a.m. on the 500 block of Cherry Street, according to a release.

A victim was taken to the hospital with stab wounds.

The release says Denson is charged with aggravated assault and a parole violation.

75-Year-Old Assaulted, Robbed Outside North Bibb Home

A north Bibb County 75-year-old was injured when three men robbed him outside his home.

The sheriff's department says it happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday on the 4600 block of Sprucewood Drive.

A news release says Howard Reed was sitting outside, near his carport, when the three men approached him.

 

One asked if he worked on lawnmowers, and Reed said he usually does not.

Reed said that when he stood up, one of the men struck him in the head and took his wallet.

They jumped into a small black vehicle.

Reed was treated for a minor wound, the release says.

The release says: "The three suspects were described as being approximately 6 feet 0 inches in height, two of the suspects weighed around 180 lbs. The third suspect was a little heavier, weighing around 200lbs. All three were wearing grey and black clothing. No further description given."

Macon Man Faces Drug Charges After Chase

Macon police say they Tased a man after he led officers on a car chase Wednesday, then tried to run away with six bags of cocaine.

 

A police news release says Trenton Harris is in the Bibb County jail facing several charges.

They say it all started after a traffic stop just before 11 a.m. on Ridgeland Avenue in Macon.

The release says officers saw his 1999 red Lincoln Town Car traveling slowly, with the driver attempting to fasten his seatbelt.

The officers also saw a child in the back of the car who was not restrained in a child safety seat, police say.

When the officers stopped his car, police say, Harris appeared nervous. When they asked him to stop the car and get out, police say, he drove off.

They caught up with him about a mile away, on the 3200 block of Napier Avenue.

Police say Harris left the car and ran off with a  small plastic bag. They say it contained 6 bags of powdered cocaine.

Zodiac Lounge Suspect Surrenders to Police

Macon police have one less suspect to search for in last week's fatal Zodiac Lounge shooting.

Around 2:30 Thursday afternoon, Kiyo Latrice Johnson, 30, surrendered to police. 

That's according to a police news release. 

Last Friday, 17-year-old Jammoni Bland was shot dead outside the Zodiac Lounge around 3:30 in the morning.

The man suspected of killing Bland, Andre Bonner, is in custody. He was also shot outside the nightclub and hospitalized after the shooting.

Miranda Pettiway, the accused "getaway driver," is already in the Bibb County jail, charged with felony murder, attempted murder and taking part in criminal gang activities.
