The Macon-Bibb Chamber of Commerce welcomed the opening of a new technical college in Macon.
The School of Health opened its campus at Riverside Drive on Thursday.
The college was formerly known as the American Professional Institute. The new name comes after Goodwill Industries purchased the institution.
The school offers programs like cosmetology, massage therapy, and instructor training.
Senior Director of Marketing, Barry Paschal, says the new leadership will allow students and faculty to operate on the same quarter system as Helms College. Helms is also led by Goodwill Industries.
"We want students to be able to come in and have experiential learning processes during their college career, and they'll also have intensive advisement which is sort of like a specialty in how we operate Helms. Students aren't just dropped in and forgotten," said Paschal.
The School of Health also opened a location in Milledgeville.
Paschal says faculty are busy registering students for the next quarter, which starts in October.
