Dallemand's Contract Up For Negotiation

The Bibb Schools superintendent's contract is under negotiation.

Romain Dallemand's current contract, with a salary of about $200,000, expires next summer.

School board members worked out the details of a new contract at a closed-door meeting Monday night that lasted more than two hours.

Board member Gary Bechtel says with a little more than a month until a new board is sworn in, now is not the time to decide on the superintendent's contract.

"We are a board with three lame duck members on it. The negotiations should carry over and the new board, once new members are sworn in, should be involved in the decision not to renew the contract or not," said Bechtel.

Bechtel is one of three board members who is term-limited this December. Susan Middleton and Tommy Barnes are the other two.

Bechtel says the board requested some changes to the contract, and if Dallemand follows through with those changes, they could vote on the contract as early as December 3.
