Wednesday night, the Bibb County school board voted to pay $17,046.50 to settle a lawsuit filed by Brad DeFore from Lizella.
DeFore's suit claimed former superintendent Romain Dallemand's contract was illegal and should be thrown out.
Part of Dallemand's buyout deal stated the board would try to settle and pay for any pending litigation.
Board member Jason Downey told 13WMAZ the $17,000 covers "global settlement and general damages."
When asked to be more specific, Downey said,"In legal terms it simply means the settlement is for any potential damages, whatever they may be. There was no allocation for attorney fees, none for specific costs of litigation, none for specific damges."
The settlement says DeFore will dismiss his suit in the Bibb County Superior Court within three days and no further discussions or actions will take place in the case.
