Celebrate a 'Miracle on Poplar Street'

A fundraiser that will raise money for families affected by autism will be held Saturday, December 19 on Poplar Street.

According to a flyer, "Miracle on Poplar Street" will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 616 Poplar Street in Macon.

A raffle with prizes will be held, and refreshments will be served.

Vendors will include One Crafty Mama, Origami Owl, Flicker N' Shine and more.

Middle Georgia State University to "deconstruct Disney"

Middle Georgia State University will hold a viewing and discussion of a Disney movie in November.

According to a news release, "Mulan" will be shown November 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Professional Sciences and Conference Center room 136.

The event is free and open to the public.

Middle Georgia State University to host college fair

High school seniors in Macon will have a chance to do some college scouting at Middle Georgia State University.

The college fair, which will feature representatives from several colleges and universities, will be Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Greenwood Farm PAW Festival to hold free veterinary clinic

The Greenwood Farm PAW Festival is hosting a free veterinary clinic October 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5996 Forsyth Road in Macon.

According to Elizabeth Barker with the clinic, there will be an instrument petting zoo, spay and neutered truck, shot clinic, microchip clinic ($10/each pet),  teddy bear surgery clinic and so much more.

Barker said the clinic is a way to bring awareness to local rescues and for more fosters, rescue groups and adoptions to happen.

Byron Fire Department to have Fire Prevention Fun Day

The Byron Fire Department is holding a Fire Prevention Fun Day at the Jail House in Byron October 3 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Food, fun and games will be provided. 

Volunteer firefighter Steve Smith is putting on the event.

Mercer University to hold Tennis Classic

Mercer University to hold Tennis Classic

Mercer University is holding a Tennis Classic of Macon featuring the top professional tennis players at the Leroy Peddy Tennis Center from October 25 to November 1, 2015.

According to a news release, players will attempt to win ranking points and gain experience as they move up the top teir of women's tennis.
