Families

A woman was hit by a car and killed early Tuesday morning on Gray Highway according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

The victim, 62-year-old Brenda Faye Johnson of Macon, is known to walk the street frequently, Jones said.

The driver, only identified as a 29-year-old man by Macon Police, was in a 2006 Chrysler 300. The man left the scene, but returned a few minutes later with his mother.

The accident happened at around 1:19 a.m. between Walmart and Murphy Express gas station.

It was one week ago today that 25-year-old Daniel Muhammad died after being hit by a car driven by a Jones County woman. That happened a quarter-of-a-mile from where Johnson died.

Jones says it's imperative people wear a reflective type of clothing.

"This is the 8th pedestrian related fatality this year," says Jones.

"Again, wearing dark clothing on Gray Highway, it's dangerous, " he added.
