Man Dies Outside Macon Waffle House | Families
A 53-year-old man died after falling out of his wheelchair outside the a Waffle House restaurant Wednesday evening.
It happened at the Waffle House on Riverside Drive, near Spring Street in downtown Macon.
Bibb County Coroner, Leon Jones said a customer told an off-duty Macon police officer that the man was on the sidewalk outside.
The officer dialed 911, but when paramedics arrived, the man was dead.
Jones said it's unclear whether the man died from the fall or was stricken in the wheelchair.
He said earlier in the day, the man was taken to the hospital and treated for a bruise on the head. He was released around 6:30 p.m.
There have been no other injuries reported on the man's body, and foul play is not suspected, Jones said.
