How You Can Make a Difference This Saturday | Families
Many individuals and organizations strive to make a difference in our community every day. But on Saturday you can join the nationwide effort and volunteer around your community as part of Make a Difference Day.
Volunteer Macon, NewTown Macon and 13WMAZ join together to clean up and expand a recreational area in Amerson River Park at the Ocmulgee River.
We'll start the work Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and plan to finish about 1 p.m. Join in when you can.
If you have work gloves, bring them. Volunteer Macon plans to have work tools at the site. If it's convenient for you, bring rakes and shovels.
Directions to the Amerson River Park:
From Riverside Drive: At the Riverside/Pierce Avenue light turn on Pierce Avenue in the direction as if you are going to travel onto I-75 North. Go under I-75 and immediately turn right on North Pierce Avenue. Stay straight through the neighborhood and cross over the railroad tracks. Take a right after the railroad tracks. Turn left to enter the park. After you enter the park, there is a gravel path on your left. Turn on the path and travel slowly down the path until you reach the clearing with the canoe ramp.
