Cut Down on The Junk Mail | Families
One kind of clutter that we all have is paper. It constantly flows into the house from the mail, flyers you pick up at a fair, papers from school and work papers that have migrated home.
Wouldn’t you like to figure out a way to cut back on the amount of paper that you get on a daily basis? I know I would. Here are a few thing you can do to reduce the amount of junk mail that you receive.*
Credit Reporting Industry Pre-Screening Opt-Out – 1-888-567-8688 or http://www.optoutprescreen.com/. You can opt out of receiving credit card offers for 5 years or forever. They ask for your social security number for more effective opting out but it is not required.
Direct Marketing Association - https://www.dmachoice.org/dma/member/home.action – You have to set up an account, then they will send you an activation email then you log in. You can individually manage catalogs, magazine offers, other mail offers and credit cards (it sends you to optoutprescreen.com). You can take your name off all of their lists or just for specific companies.
Catalog Choice – http://www.catalogchoice.org - Again you have to set up an account, then they will send you an activation email, and then you log in. This site allows you to opt out from catalogs and yellow pages. You delete specific items one at a time.
DirectMail.com - http://www.directmail.com/directory/mail_preference/Default.aspx . Fill out form then select what types of direct mail you would or would not like to receive. Then they will then send you a confirmation email that you will need to respond to
Have fun getting off of the lists and having less junk mail in your mail box.
*If you have donated to a group or purchased a product from a company, legally they can still send you mail until you specifically tell them not to.
